April 8, 2011 Addition

Tonight there was a knock on our door. The owner of the Alamo Inn, where we are staying, came by to tell us that there was a Chuck-will's-widow just down the road. He and his wife, Dave and Joyce and the two of us walked down there. He used my binoculars to relocate the bird, then handed them back. I looked where he said and saw it on a branch. I tried to explain to the others where the bird was sitting. Meanwhile, he shined a light on the bird, and I saw it again. Then the bird flew, and no one else was able to see it, unfortunately. It was my 19th new Texas bird for this trip.
