We left around 9:00 a.m. and walked over to the rim to do today's hike. John and I were walking with Judy and Jim. The rest of the hikers had already disappeared down the trail. We viewed many beautiful vistas. Along the trail, some visitors from France had easels set up and were busy painting.
Judy and Jim continued along the trail. John and I stopped at Vercamp's visitors' center, Hopi House, El Tovar Hotel, Bright Angel Lodge, The Lookout, and Kolb Brothers' Studio. Had a hot dog from the snack bar near Bright Angel. Took the Shuttle back to the Yavapai. Then we took a shuttle out to the large visitors' center, bookstore, and theatre. We watch a 20 film about the park. Then boarded another shuttle to go to the Geology Museum. Back at the visitors' center we boarded our last shuttle for the day to the Yavapai again.
Went back to our room where John prepared his pack and lunch for the hike down into the canyon tomorrow morning. Denver will lead down the Bright Angel Trail, and John and Karen will lead down the South Kaibab Trail.
Pictures today: Rim views, Hopi House, Lookout, passenger train from Williams, quotes on the walls of the theater the Geology Museum, and Shuttle stop.
