April 1, 2011

We arrived in Nashville TN around 3:30 p.m. Central Time. Checked into the Days Inn. Then we went looking for the box office to pick up our tickets for the Grand Ole Opry this evening. After a few wrong turns, we found the theater, and John got our tickets.
We drove to the Old German Historic District in town. Monell's didn't open until 5:00 p.m., so John went for a walk and I snapped a few pictures.
We sat at a table with couples from Alabama, Vermont, Maine and Nashville. They were a congenial group. Dinner consisted of coleslaw, pickled cucumbers, corn pudding, mashed potatoes, green beans, white beans, bar-b-qued ribs, fried chicken, hush puppies, catfish, turnip greens, spinach lasagna, cornbread, biscuits, and their special peach preserves. Stuffed ourselves.
Headed for the Grand Ole Opry after dinner. Stars of the show tonight were Mel Tillis, The Gatlin Brothers, Kellie Pickler, Mike Snyder, Jimmy Newman, Jeannie Seely, Jimmy Wayne,
Jimmy Dickens, Jim Ed Brown, Bill Anderson, Jan Howard, Jack Greene, Connie Smith, and Dailey & Vincent. We had only heard of the first three.
Commercials went on between each act. Reminded me of one of the reasons I don't watch TV.
I took lots of pictures. Unfortunately, I left the camera case and cords in the cars, so photos will have to wait until tomorrow.
