Drove to downtown Laredo. Went to the Historical Society Museum. The entire collection was movie posters of Maria Felix-La Dona, a Mexican movie star and some of her memorabilia.
Drove to the old town square and parked. Walked over to a hotel called, La Posada, which occupies what used to be a high school built in 1916. It is beautiful.
Had to wait until noon for the Museum of the Rio Grande to open. There were four rooms, three with furniture from the past. The fourth gave a brief history of the area with photographs.
Drove to Crystal City, which is known as the spinach capital of the world, although we saw no fields of any kind of vegetables growing. We did take pictures of the two oversized statues of Popeye, the sailor man.
Driving toward Del Rio we saw several stands of pecan trees. Checked into the motel and ate dinner at another Sirloin Stockade buffet.
