April 12, 2011
Left Alamo and headed up the Rio Grande to Roma Bluffs. The Nature Center is in a very old section of town. We watched a video about the river. Then went over to the observation deck above the river. We could see over to Mexico. Many Mexicans were down at the shoreline fishing.
Went to Falcon. Couldn't go onto the dam, but visited the state park.
Went to Zapata and tried to find the birding area and park next to the county library, but couldn't even find the library. Finally gave up. Tried to find the museum, but the sign pointed to nowhere.
Gave up on that, too.
Next stop San Ingnatio. The birding area in the list we had was for sale. We ended up taking pictures of the old part of town and birding in the city park.
Found a motel in Laredo, ate at the Sirloin Stockade, a buffet, and came back to relax. Thinking of going to the downtown museums and maybe taking a tour tomorrow.
