We headed south out of Wichita Falls to Archer City. There we went to all four of the Booked Up bookstores that are a complex owned by author, Larry McMurtry. Thousands of books arranged by subject. No children's books. He had donated all of them to the Preschool in town.
The Royal Theater is here, too. It is the theatre that inspired his book, The Last Picture Show.
In the town of Albany, we stopped for lunch. The restaurant is a combination restaurant, ice cream parlor, gift shop, and drug store/pharmacy. It is in the old Sander's Drug Store building,
built in 1927.
After crossing a river, called the Colorado, not to be confused with the one that flows through the Grand Canyon, we entered Texas Hill country.
We are in Fredericksburg TX near Johnson City. Mary Grovemiller and Larry Davis came and picked us up, and we had a very nice dinner at one of the German restaurants in town. We plan to stay here two nights, so we can do some hiking and sightseeing tomorrow.
